Micky Chan was awarded with the prestigious title of Sake Samurai in 2017. Micky is also a Certified Sake Sommelier (SSA), “kikisake-shi” (SSI) and WSET® L3 Award in Sake certificates. He is one of the Co-founder of the Hong Kong Wine Academy focusing on Wine and Sake education. He is deeply involved in Sake as an educator, writer, international judge and consultant. As a Sake educator, he has been delivering courses and training in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Mainland China.
Micky participated to many competition as a Judge including International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), International Wine challenge (IWC), Berlin Wine Trophy and Asia Wine Trophy, judging over a few thousand of wine and Sake bottles per year. In 2017, he was appointed as a Overseas support desk for Asia at the Japan Sake and Sochu Makers Association, where his duty is to link up Japanese Sake industry with the Asian market.
Born in Hong Kong and graduated from the LKKC school in Hong Kong. Micky is also a certified Wine sommelier and has recently been appointed “Brand Consultant” for one of the most famous Japanese Winery; Chateau Merican. He provides marketing advice and update information on brand building
The Sake Samurai Association
The Sake Samurai Association was established in 2004 as a junior council for the Japan Sake Brewers Association to protect sake and Japanese traditions at home and to promote them internationally. It has contributed to the increased popularity of sake and Japanese food overseas in recent years.
