Tatsuya Lida Alexandre was awarded with the prestigious title of Sake Samurai in 2015. He is the first South American to receive such a title. He is the founder of Adega de Sake, a Sake shop in Brazil which opened in 2004. Tatsuya is a pioneer in the implementation of Sake and Shochu in the Brazilian market. Today, the shop has more than 90 labels of the most varied types of Sake.
Tatsuya is a member of the Brazilian association sommelier in Sao Paulo and certified as a Sake specialists by the Sake Service Institute (SSI) based in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a Sake certified Sake educator.
Born in Brazil as second Japanese generation. His strong Japanese roots made him very interested about Sake. He admits that he was not always able to drink Sake, but his motto is “one glass is worth a thousand words”.
Currently, Tatsuya is working on promoting Sake in Brazil through his shop in Sao Paulo and Curitiba. He offers consulting and training in Sake for restaurants and Bars. He has also started organizing brewery tours in Japan, bringing non-Japanese from Brazil to discover the world of Sake.
The Sake Samurai Association
The Sake Samurai Association was established in 2004 as a junior council for the Japan Sake Brewers Association to protect sake and Japanese traditions at home and to promote them internationally. It has contributed to the increased popularity of sake and Japanese food overseas in recent years.
